MARK HUME, VANCOUVER — The Globe and Mail, Published Thursday, Aug. 08 2013
Four years after a salmon run so disastrous it sparked a federal inquiry, fisheries managers are watching with concern as sockeye trickle into the Fraser in lower numbers and later in the season than anticipated.
Uncertain how many more fish might be coming and worried about warm water in the river, fisheries managers have allowed no commercial or sport harvest of sockeye in the Fraser so far this season. First Nations have been greatly limited in their catches.

News: Gravel placement in Campbell River goes well
By Neil Cameron, The Courier-Islander August 9, 2013
...And so too will be the salmon this fall when they find tons of new spawning gravel that was placed into the Campbell River this week by the Campbell River Salmon Foundation...Meanwhile Quinsam River staff were doing a snorkel survey of the river. The turbidity caused by the gravel placement resulted in only about a 30 per cent visibility. With that the count showed 5,150 pinks, five chinooks and three steelhead.
Low water conditions are thought to be slowing migration into the river this year, but another 13,000 pinks have been counted upriver of the hatchery fence on the Quinsam River.
