Lice were common before fish farms

Returns of Wild Salmon to many rivers on the BC coast in the summer of 2009 were the highest ever recorded, the Campbell River being one of them.

This is an area that has been farming salmon in open pen net cages since 1984. Certainly if Ms Morton's claims were true we would have seen a decline in the wild salmon populations by now.

I have worked in the salmon farming industry in Campbell River for over 20 years and throughout that time it has provided me with a year-round full-time job as well as for many others who have worked with me.

When I worked seasonally in commercial fishing in 1981 and 82, sea lice on the salmon we caught were a common occurrence even before salmon farming ever started here. Think for yourselves, people, her claims are ridiculous.

When do you ever hear of fleas killing a dog?
